Live Streaming

Everything your production team needs to send a reliable live feed to PowerPPV.

What settings should I use to stream to PowerPPV?

For most professional HD broadcasts, use 1920×1080, H.264, 8,000 Kbps CBR, AAC audio at 128–192 Kbps and a 2–4 second keyframe interval.

For sport and other fast action, 50 or 60 fps is recommended when your cameras, production workflow and connection support it.

How fast does my internet upload need to be?

We recommend at least 20 Mbps of stable upload bandwidth for an 8 Mbps live stream, with 30 Mbps or more preferred.

The spare bandwidth is deliberate. It gives your encoder room to maintain a stable feed when the venue connection fluctuates or other traffic is using the same connection.

Why shouldn't I stream at my full upload speed?

A venue having a 100 Mbps upload connection does not mean you should send a 100 Mbps live stream. Your stream bitrate should remain controlled and leave substantial capacity available for normal connection variation.

For a 1080p PowerPPV broadcast, around 8 Mbps CBR is the recommended starting point.

Should I use Wi-Fi or Ethernet?

Wired Ethernet is strongly preferred for professional live events. Wi-Fi is affected by distance, interference, venue congestion and other devices using the same wireless network.

If Wi-Fi is your only option, test it under realistic event conditions before going live.

Can I use OBS, vMix or a hardware encoder?

Yes. PowerPPV works with standard professional streaming workflows that can send the live feed using the streaming details supplied for your event.

Use the recommended resolution, H.264 video, AAC audio, CBR bitrate and keyframe settings shown above.

What happens if my internet connection drops?

If the venue connection fails or the encoder disconnects temporarily, restore the connection and reconnect using the same PowerPPV streaming details for that event.

You do not need to create a new event simply because the broadcaster has temporarily lost connectivity.

What does PowerPPV monitor during my broadcast?

PowerPPV records the health of the incoming encoder feed, including interruptions, measured signal downtime and reconnect activity.

Your event also has a Broadcast Report so you have a record of how the feed performed during the event.

If I stop the encoder at the end, will that count as downtime?

PowerPPV's broadcast monitoring is designed to distinguish the end of a broadcast from an interruption during an active event. Once an event is determined to have ended, the feed stopping should not simply continue accumulating as live-event downtime.

What should I check if viewers report a poor stream?

First check your event's Live Stream Health and your encoder for dropped frames or reconnects. Then check the production connection, bitrate stability, CPU/GPU load and audio/video source.

PowerPPV reporting helps distinguish problems with the feed being sent into PowerPPV from issues affecting an individual viewer's own connection or device.

Should I test before the event?

Yes. Test your encoder, audio, cameras and venue internet before the event. Ideally test on the same connection and equipment that will be used for the live broadcast.

Revenue, Fees & Withdrawals

Understand the two ways to handle customer payments, PowerPPV commission, Stripe, refunds, disputes and withdrawals.

What payment options does PowerPPV offer?

PowerPPV gives Event Organisers two clear choices for paid events and video sales.

Manage your own customer payments — 10% PowerPPV commission: connect your own Stripe account. Customer payments are processed through your Stripe account and you manage your own payouts, refunds, disputes and payment activity.

PowerPPV-managed payments — 15% PowerPPV commission: PowerPPV receives the customer payments and handles payment administration, refunds and Event Organiser withdrawals on your behalf.

What is Stripe?

Stripe is one of the world's leading and widely trusted online payment processors. Businesses around the world use Stripe to securely accept card and online payments.

If you choose PowerPPV's self-managed payment option, your Stripe account receives and processes your customer payments. You have direct access to your payment activity, balance, payouts, refunds and disputes.

What does “Manage my own payments” mean?

It means you control the financial relationship with your customers. Payments are processed through your connected Stripe account rather than being collected into PowerPPV's managed-payment system.

You manage your own customer payments, payouts, refunds and disputes in Stripe. PowerPPV automatically receives its 10% commission from eligible PowerPPV sales.

What are PowerPPV-managed payments?

Choose this option if you would rather PowerPPV handle the payment administration for you. PowerPPV receives the customer payments and manages Event Organiser withdrawals, payment administration and refunds on your behalf.

The PowerPPV-managed payment option carries a 15% PowerPPV commission.

What does PowerPPV charge?

The commission depends on how you choose to manage payments: 10% when you manage your own customer payments through Stripe, or 15% when PowerPPV manages the payments for you.

Standard card/payment-processing charges are separate from the PowerPPV commission and are shown transparently.

Are card-processing fees included in the commission?

No. Payment processing is a separate deduction. The exact processing charge can vary according to payment method, card type and the applicable processor pricing.

This is kept separate so you can clearly distinguish PowerPPV's platform commission from payment-processing costs.

How is a £12.99 PPV sale worked out?

The PowerPPV commission depends on your selected payment option. With self-managed Stripe payments, PowerPPV commission is 10%. With PowerPPV-managed payments, PowerPPV commission is 15%.

Standard payment-processing charges are separate in either case.

What is the PowerPPV Safe?

The PowerPPV Safe is used for money being handled through the PowerPPV-managed payment route. It shows relevant event earnings and the amount available or progressing towards Event Organiser withdrawal.

If you manage your own payments through Stripe, your Stripe account is where you manage your payment balance, payouts, refunds and disputes.

When can I access my event earnings?

For PowerPPV-managed payments, eligible event earnings follow the PowerPPV settlement and withdrawal process, built around withdrawal availability within 24 hours after your event.

For self-managed Stripe payments, your money is managed through your own Stripe account and Stripe's applicable payout schedule.

How do I request a PowerPPV-managed withdrawal?

If you use PowerPPV-managed payments, open your Safe, review the available balance and choose Request Withdrawal. Confirm the amount and follow the on-screen instructions.

This withdrawal process does not apply in the same way to self-managed Stripe payments, because those funds and payouts are controlled through your own Stripe account.

Who handles refunds and payment disputes?

If you choose self-managed payments at 10% commission, you manage your customers' refunds, disputes and payment activity through your own Stripe account.

If you choose PowerPPV-managed payments at 15% commission, PowerPPV handles the payment administration and refunds on your behalf. Refunds, disputes and chargebacks can affect the final amount available from the relevant event sales.

Events & PPV Sales

Creating events, selling access and managing your audience.

What do I need to create an event?

Create the event in My Events and add the core information your audience needs: event title, date, start time, category, event details and whether access is PPV or free-to-air.

How do I set my PPV price?

Choose PPV when setting up the event and enter the price you want viewers to pay. Your event page will then sell access at that price.

Can I run a free-to-air event?

Yes. PowerPPV supports both paid PPV events and free-to-air live events, so you can choose the access model that suits each event.

Can I give somebody complimentary access?

Yes. Use the event's Comp Tickets tools to provide authorised complimentary access without requiring that guest to buy a normal PPV pass.

Can I track which person or campaign generated a sale?

PowerPPV supports unique tracked sales links. These are useful when fighters, performers, teams, sponsors or partners are helping sell your PPV and you want to compare clicks and resulting sales.

Can I see sales and audience data while my event is live?

Yes. Your event and sales areas are designed to give you live operational visibility, including audience and sales information available to your account.

Why can I create an event but not see streaming details?

New accounts can prepare events while account approval is being completed. Live-streaming credentials are only made available once the account has the required approval for live access.

Power Highlights

Turn live moments into social content while the event is still happening.

What is Power Highlights?

Power Highlights lets authorised event staff turn moments from the live broadcast into short social clips while the event is still taking place — ideal for goals, knockouts, big plays, performances and other moments your audience will want to share.

Does Power Highlights cost extra?

No. Power Highlights is included for PowerPPV event organisers rather than being sold as a separate monthly highlights subscription.

Do I need to be at the venue to create highlights?

No. An authorised organiser/admin can work remotely, including from a mobile device, so the person creating social content does not need to be sitting beside the production encoder at the venue.

Where can I publish highlights?

Your connected social destinations are managed through the PowerPPV social tools. Connect the authorised accounts/pages you want available to your event team, then use Power Highlights to create content for those destinations.

How quickly can a highlight be created?

Power Highlights is designed for near-instant event content, allowing your team to react while the moment is still being talked about rather than waiting until after the event.

Why post highlights while the event is still live?

Short clips can show people what they are missing while there is still time to join the live event. They also give your teams, performers and partners immediate content to share while audience interest is at its highest.
